ICE plan to buy robot dogs spurs protest from hundreds of Boston Dynamics employees

26 October 2026 at 14:50

Hundreds of employees at the US robotics firm Boston Dynamics signed a petition calling for executives to halt a sale of the companyโ€™s robot dogs to US Immigration and Customs Enforcementโ€”but executives stood by the deal, while saying the robots would not be weaponized.

On September 25, the Department of Homeland Security contract awarded $1.3 million to a Connecticut company called Radeco to provide ICE with modified versions of Boston Dynamicsโ€™ quadruped robots. But Boston Dynamics workers sent the petition letter with more than 300 signaturesโ€”half of them anonymousโ€”to the companyโ€™s executives in early September and shared copies with The Boston Globe and WBUR public radio station.

โ€œMany of us have gotten messages from friends and family, asking us in disbelief and horror if this news is true, and how we can live with ourselves if it is,โ€ according to the petition. โ€œThe risk for Boston Dynamics is simply too great to continue with this deal.โ€

โ€œthegentlemanpervertโ€ producing AI CSAM is a NJ prosecutor, say cops

16 October 2026 at 16:20

New Jerseyโ€™s deputy attorney general, Brian Richard Fitzgerald, was arrested on โ€œfelony charges related to AI-generated child sexual abuse material (CSAM),โ€ Bucks County Detectives said in a press release Thursday.

In the US, cops have vowed to crack down on AI CSAM since at least 2024, when the Department of Justice made one of the earliest arrests. After charging a Wisconsin man with spreading โ€œthousands of realistic images of prepubescent minorsโ€ across Telegram and Instagram, the DOJ clarified to law enforcement that โ€œCSAM generated by AI is still CSAM.โ€
