Of all the Pixel 11's new features, Rambler voice typing is the one that will benefit the most people, even if they never realize that it's there. But does Rambler actually require a new phone? I forced it onto my Pixel 8a to see how well it can work on an older device, and I was impressed by the results.

Googlebook's clumsy launch made me wish that I wasn't a product reviewer. I had to spend two weeks using a laptop with what felt like an unfinished operating system (cue the world's smallest violin), and throughout the entire process, I just kept thinking how nice it would be if Google had taken all of its biggest Googlebook features and slapped them on a mainline Linux distro instead of trying to reinvent the wheel.

Hippocrates once said "art is long, life is short." It's a neat old proverb that, like many ancient Latin and Greek isms, has been re-observed and re-proven over and over again throughout history. And although I may not be the first to compare computer engineering to an art, I'm probably the first to use a Hippocrates quote to describe the RS-232 serial port.

Remember when phone chargers were straight up garbage? The Micro-USB standard defined a generation of devices, but it was notorious for both its fragility and its toxic "hey, I just bent your phone's pins, now I'm the only charger that'll ever work with it" attitude.

I wasn't particularly satisfied with the Googlebook launch. As a tech writer and product reviewer, I was basically obligated to spend two weeks with a product that felt grossly unfinished and super confused about its identity. But one feature, the Glowbar, just can't escape my mind.
