Winklevoss Twins Donated $10 Million From Bitcoin Sale to Trump Super PAC

Crypto entrepreneurs Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss donated over $10 million after liquidating Bitcoin to American super PAC MAGA Inc., which supports President Donald Trump.Β

A Tuesday filing shows each twin β€” the founders of the public crypto exchange, Gemini β€” donated over $5 million each.Β

The donation comes about one month after the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission asked a judge to vacate the agency’s $5 million penalty against Gemini.

The twins back in 2024 announced that they had donated 30.94 Bitcoin, valued at over $2 million at the time, to President Trump’s campaign, claiming it would β€œput an end to the Biden Administration’s war on crypto.”

During the Biden Administration, regulators cracked down hard on crypto exchanges β€” including Gemini β€” but since President Trump took office, a number of lawsuits have been scrapped.Β

MAGA Inc. has raised over $400 million in fresh cash ahead of November’s midterm elections.Β

The Winklevoss twins are Bitcoin OGs

The Winklevoss Twins β€” who claimed they played a part in the creation of Facebook β€” founded crypto exchange Gemini in 2014 after being early Bitcoin backers.

Crypto industry observers have long speculated that the twins are two of the biggest Bitcoin holders in the space.Β

The twins have long praised President Trump’s pro-Bitcoin and pro-business stance, claiming it’s crucial for the future of the crypto industry in the country.Β

Tyler in particular emphasized the need for a political shift to prevent further harm to the industry and to restore an environment conducive to innovation and economic growth.

β€œPresident Donald J. Trump is the pro-Bitcoin, pro-crypto, and pro-business choice,” he said back in 2024. β€œThis is not even remotely open for debate. Anyone who tells you otherwise is severely misinformed, delusional, or not telling the truth.”

Back in May, Gemini shares jumped over 20% in after-hours trading after the Winklevoss twins announced a $100 million Bitcoin-funded investment in the company alongside Q1 earnings showing 42% year-over-year revenue growth.Β

The quarter’s results included a narrowed net loss of $109 million and a sharp rise in services and credit card revenue, though trading volumes had fallen from a year earlier following Bitcoin’s crash from its October peak.Β

The rally followed months of turmoil for Gemini, including layoffs, executive departures, shareholder lawsuits, and a stock price that had dropped more than 89% from its IPO high, partly offset by a CFTC derivatives license granted in April.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 gets Google’s Gemini Intelligence before the Pixel 11

Alongside Samsung's Unpacked reveals, Google unveiled Gemini updates for the new Galaxy foldables, including wake-word-free Watch 9 activation and a built-in iPhone data transfer tool.

I turned ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini into project management apps, and one clear winner emerged

Large language models (LLMs) might be the most accessible and flexible technology we've ever had access to. By default, they're presented as chatbotsβ€”but that's just one way to interact with them. With the right prompts, you can transform an LLM into something that behaves like an entirely different app, complete with its own custom interface.

Google announces Gemini 3.6 Flash and cybersecurity AI, teases 3.5 Pro and Gemini 4

21 July 2026 at 12:58

Google announced a significant evolution of its AI models at I/O in May with the release of Gemini 3.5 Flash, and it's not slowing down. The company revealed three new AI models today, including its first version of Gemini geared toward cybersecurity. However, none of the new models is the delayed Gemini 3.5 Pro, which was supposed to launch in June.

Gemini 3.5 Flash, which was the star of the show at I/O, has already been deprecated. In its place, developers and users will find Gemini 3.6 Flash. Google makes the usual claims about this modelβ€”it's marginally more capable and better at coding, and it has great multimodal features.

Google says the changes to 3.6 Flash were made in response to user feedback on the 3.5 release. In general, Gemini 3.5 Flash didn't appear to live up to Google's promises around code generation. Perhaps that is simply a consequence of Google's intense focus on efficiency as businesses have started to fret over the cost of AI tokens.

I'm tired of talking to AI, so I built a system that does the talking for me

21 July 2026 at 08:30

The way to use a chatbot is given in the name. They are designed to be used by having two-way conversations with the LLM using natural language. You type something into the chatbot, and it replies. In some cases, continually typing stuff into a chatbot isn't the most efficient way to do things, so I set up a system that does it for me.

Gemini Notebook’s new Collections arrive just as Google turns it into a bigger workspace

Gemini Notebook’s new Collections help users organize growing research libraries as Google expands the former NotebookLM across Gemini and Search, although the feature remains more limited than a proper folder system.

I asked ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini for the best Excel formulaβ€”they all disagreed

20 July 2026 at 06:30

I used to spend far too much time building and debugging complex Excel formulas. Now, I can describe a problem to AI and get a working answer in seconds. But when I asked ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini for the "best" Excel formula, they all gave me different answers.

I asked Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini to build a password generatorβ€”one outperformed the others

The more comfortable I get using AI to help me code, the more curious I become about how the major platforms compare when they're given the exact same job. It's easy to ask Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini to create a simple app and come away impressed when something functional appears a few seconds later. But that doesn't necessarily tell you whether the code is secure, well structured, or capable of handling situations beyond the most obvious use case.

Gemini turned Google's apps into my project management system

18 July 2026 at 11:15

Are you deeply invested in the Google ecosystem? Do you actively use Google Keep, Tasks, Calendar, and Drive in your day-to-day life? Individually, each of these is an excellent toolβ€”minimal by design but solid in functionality. The only problem is that these apps are mostly isolated from one another. But if you add Gemini as an orchestration layer, all of these tools can start talking to each other. That's exactly what I did, effectively turning Gemini into my personal project management system.

Every app on my phone has decided I need AI, and none of them bothered to ask

18 July 2026 at 07:53
Every app wants to become an AI app, even when users keep dismissing the invitation. Somehow, software that promises to understand us still can’t remember when we’ve said no.

Google’s AI just recreated the best goal ever by Pele that was never actually filmed

17 July 2026 at 19:46
Google used live stadium capture, and combined it with archival material to bring Pele's legendary goal to life. The Veo video engine, Gemini Omni, and Nano Banana Pro AI tools tagged alongside in the journey to revive a lost marvel.
