Netflix is arguably the most popular streaming service in the world. However, it's not the only streamer that boasts great movies. HBO Max, Hulu, Paramount+, and Prime Video all have vast libraries with terrific movies in various genres. If you know where to look, you'll find plenty of certified classics.

Prime Video remains one of the major streaming services in today's streaming landscape. Like its competitors, Prime Video is always looking for its next critically acclaimed Emmy contender. Since 2015, Amazon has won more than 50 Emmy Awards in various categories, including some of the most prestigious comedy and drama prizes.

Serials have become the backbone of the streaming era, especially on Netflix. Serialized television is when a show's plot unfolds in sequential order over the course of a season. It's long-form storytelling that typically works best with dramas—Stranger Things, The Crown, etc. Watching the episodes in release order matters. Often, these shows are binged because the complex character arcs and cliffhangers encourage streaming multiple episodes at once.

Kevin Hart has become one of Netflix's most valuable stars. His latest comedy movie, 72 Hours, quickly shot to No. 1 on Netflix, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Perhaps one of these thrillers will surge into the Top 10 this week.

It's the last week of the month, and theaters are packed thanks to The Odyssey and soon-to-be-released Spider-Man: Brand New Day. At home, the major streamers are releasing a slew of movies before the calendar turns to August.
